Ranking methodology

How the paid app rankings work

appstorerank.lol is a transparent promotion board. The ordering is intentionally simple: the largest successful bid holds the highest position.

The short answer

To claim #1, an app maker selects an iOS, Android or web app and pays at least $1 more than the current top bid. Once payment succeeds, that app moves to the top. It stays there until another successful bid is larger.

What the position means

A position shows an app’s relative bid on this website. It is useful as a public, time-sensitive signal of who is actively promoting an app here.

It does measure

Successful paid bids and the resulting order on appstorerank.lol.

It does not measure

Downloads, revenue, store search rank, chart position, quality or endorsement.

From store lookup to a live position

  1. Choose a platform. Select iOS, Android or Web apps so the lookup uses the correct public source.
  2. Find the exact app. Search by name, store ID or package ID, or paste a public app-store or website link. Website destinations and redirects are checked before metadata is accepted.
  3. Review the required bid. The minimum is calculated from the live leading bid, with a $1 increment.
  4. Complete checkout. A bid counts only after the payment provider confirms it succeeded.
  5. The board updates. The app’s store metadata is refreshed and its successful bid determines its new position.

Why app profiles and category pages update

Every ranked app receives a crawlable profile containing its current position, bid, platform, developer, source description, rating and screenshots when available. Platform and substantive category pages are generated from the same live ranking data, so visitors and search engines see consistent facts.

How weekly launches differ

Weekly launches use a separate Sunday-to-Saturday UTC board. A product can launch from $5 in the current week or be scheduled up to 52 weeks ahead. The first 20 paid products in each week use that standard minimum. Starting with the 21st product, the minimum is twice the week’s current highest paid total and is recalculated at checkout. Future product identities stay private until their week opens. Within a week, successful payments are added together and apps are ordered from the highest total to the lowest; the earlier app stays ahead when totals tie.

A current-week app can receive a top-up without an account. The Move up price is the difference needed to pass the app immediately above it, plus $1, recalculated when checkout starts.
